Erice is born, the first Italian NGO created for Israeli and Palestinian children

It was held on 21 October in Rome the meeting that saw the birth of Erice as the first Italian NGO that works to promote the health of children and the protection of the right to health for Israelis and Palestinians. The working group of Erice, which began to meet exactly ten years ago to promote programs for the children of both countries, signed the papers to be officially an NGOs recognized by the Italian institutions. Shafiq Masalha, who was elected president of Erice, led the delegation composed also by Alan Apter and Mustafa Qossoqsi on behalf of all the members of the board and that included the president of the Child Foundation Professor Ernesto Caffo and Professor James Leckman of Yale who, from the beginning, have favored the creation of this project. During the visit there have been numerous meetings with institutional representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Members of the Committees on Foreign Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies and of the Senate.
