Youth Mental Health, Human Development and Artificial Intelligence

High-Level Meeting - United Nations General Assembly Week

112 East 71st Street, New York, NY – 24 September 2026 – 2:30-6:00 PM

Children and young people are growing up in a world that is changing faster than ever. Their wellbeing, relationships, learning experiences and opportunities for participation must remain at the centre of decisions about the technologies that increasingly shape their everyday lives.

This high-level meeting brings together experts, institutions, policymakers and technology leaders to explore how children’s rights, mental health and human development can be protected and strengthened in the age of Artificial Intelligence. The discussion will focus on how AI can support, rather than replace, human relationships, enhance young people’s agency and digital literacy, and be developed and governed through evidence, responsibility and safety by design.

By connecting scientific knowledge, technological innovation and public policy, the meeting aims to promote a human-centred approach in which technology serves children, their development and their future.
